Frequently asked questions
Common questions from veterinary practices considering PetMyDear.
Getting started
- Is the listing free?
- Yes, basic listing is free for launch participants. Additional tools may be offered in the future, but there is no cost, subscription, or billing required to join the initial program.
- Who can list a practice?
- Any veterinary clinic, veterinary hospital, or mobile veterinarian operating in the United States can apply. Groomers, boarding facilities, trainers, and other pet-care providers can submit interest; their profiles will be enabled as those workflows are ready.
- How long does verification take?
- Our team reviews new applications as they come in. Most reviews complete within a few business days. You'll receive email updates at each stage.
- Can I claim an existing listing?
- Yes, through a verification pathway. You'll submit a claim with identity and location evidence. We verify claim ownership before granting access, notify any existing owner of the claim, and do not auto-transfer based on email similarity or magic link alone.
Practice software and integrations
- Must I replace my current practice management software?
- No. PetMyDear works alongside your existing software. We're actively building integrations, but none are required to join, be verified, or receive appointment inquiries.
- Are integrations with practice software active?
- Only integrations explicitly marked as Supported and Tested are active. We collect integration interest to prioritize our roadmap. Until an integration is live, the button says 'Request Integration,' not 'Connect.'
- Which practice management systems does PetMyDear integrate with?
- We are evaluating integrations with AVImark, Cornerstone, ezyVet, Provet, Covetrus Pulse, Neo, Shepherd, and others based on provider demand. No PIMS integration is live in the current release; selecting your system on the interest form is not a claim of connectivity.
Appointment requests
- Can pet owners book instantly?
- Not through PetMyDear's request flow. Appointment requests require your clinic's confirmation. We never represent an unconfirmed request as a booked appointment. If you use an external booking system, pet owners can click through to book there, but that transaction happens on your platform, not ours.
- What happens if we don't respond to a request?
- Unanswered requests become expired after 72 hours (adjustable in your settings). The pet owner receives a notification. We do not auto-book, auto-decline, or claim unavailability on your behalf.
- Can I switch off appointment requests temporarily?
- Yes. You can suspend requests, switch to an external booking link, or set vacation mode from your dashboard at any time.
Pet records and data
- Will PetMyDear receive our patient records?
- Not as an onboarding requirement or automatically. Pet health information is shared only when an authenticated pet owner explicitly chooses to do so for a specific appointment and purpose.
- Can clinics view any user's pet records after signing up?
- No. Individual owner-approved data only — authorized for a specific pet, clinic, location, purpose, and time window. You never get access to all users' records just by joining.
- Can we download or export a pet health summary?
- Only if the owner's grant explicitly permits download and while the grant is active. Revocation after a download cannot retrieve already-downloaded copies; this limitation is disclosed to owners at consent time.
- What data will marketing tools use?
- Practice business data and marketing data you explicitly provide or consent to. Private pet clinical data is never used for marketing by default.
Practice profile and controls
- Can I control my services, hours, and photos?
- Yes. Your dashboard gives you full control over your profile, business hours, services, location details, and media. Changes to core business identity (phone, address, booking URL) are logged for audit.
- Can I have multiple locations under one account?
- Yes. A single organization can manage multiple locations. Each location has its own profile, hours, services, and approval status. Team members can be scoped to specific locations.
- What is the difference between Verified and Pending?
- Verified means our team has confirmed your business identity. Pending means your application is still under review. Only Verified practices appear in the directory with the Verified badge.
Safety and emergencies
- What about emergency situations?
- PetMyDear appointment inquiries are not an emergency channel. Always direct clients to call your clinic directly or contact emergency services for urgent situations. Emergency availability is only shown if you have explicitly confirmed you offer it.
